One day an island - so simple it is not natural. Although La Gomera is the second smallest of the Canary Islands, but it offers, despite its relatively small size, much more potential than a single day would suffice for a visit.
Since we are not able to book in advance between Christmas and New Year we know about the car rental a car, we will try our luck spontaneously and can spot in the port of San Sebastian nor Cicar rent a vehicle.
For just 67 € including all charges and insurance without personal participation, we get a Land Rover Freelander. Great!
Hermigua with with arts and crafts center and the sights of Los Telares church of Santo Domingo de Guzman happens after Agula.
Agula is a really picturesque little town (the smallest way to the island). Shortly after
Agula (La Palmita) leads to a museum / visitor center "Juego de Bolas. There are next to Canary crafts and drama workshops and a museum on the history and culture La Gomera or the Canary Islands. Who has enough time, should this risk in any case more than a glance! Even children with a trip there is quite interesting.
So we head south-west of Vallehermoso and Arure to Valle Gran Rey.
find something amusing we go in just about every small town a hyper-manicured Football field before. is grown, in principle, only in terrace design -
on La Gomera is all mountainous. Even houses are on steep slopes and terraces draw partly out of almost infinite number of narrow steps. Only for soccer fields are leveled at any place huge areas. The most beautiful thing in the world seems to have also la Gomera many fans .... But on the way to Valle Gran Rey we include three soccer fields, where many German groundsman should smooth green with envy (the grass is more like many a golf course ...)
And we are love it! After we parked the car, we walk on foot along the pounding surf towards the district of La Playa. As always, the guys make the move directly kraxelnderweise in search of olivine and promptly find.
La Playa is an idyllic place that seems to be interesting as to almost be in German hands, many here seem to know for years. Even if they called this area as "the tourist center of the island, so it can not compare with the absolute mass tourism, one can find in Gran Canaria and co. overthrow
While the kids are in the waters (the surf here is quite something) I think me in a little shop with some Germans. Many have lived here for over 25 years, others come here every year for several months, even some families with kids to spend their holidays here. Apparently
or was this popular scenic spot for dropouts and I can even understand why a little ...
A pretty shop with making the strategy more self-decoration and all sorts of crafts and souvenirs is also run by Germans.
The return trip goes through the middle of the park and we are once again fascinated by the lava (! The way we have found great stones with numerous Olivineinschlüssen there), palm trees etc, it is now in the wood as it could hardly be more spectacular.
Nowhere can so so impressive different levels of vegetation in such a small space
discover a pity that we are only here for a day -. La Gomera is definitely worth another visit!
